We need to halve emissions by 2030. They rose again in 2019.

Global carbon dioxide emissions reached a record high of 37 billion metric tons in 2019. In this article, James Temple, MIT Technology Review's senior editor for energy, discusses some of the major barriers⁠ to the global emissions reduction necessary for keeping warming below 2°C.
