MIT in the News: Dr. Minal Pathak discusses Women and Climate Change

While the effects of climate change will be felt across the globe, research makes it clear that women are more vulnerable to climate impacts than men. Despite this, there is disproportionate representation in climate change discourse; men overwhelmingly dominate the climate change conversation.

In this article published by the Weather Channel, Dr. Minal Prathak discusses the hope she has for more equal representation of women in climate science and policy. Dr. Prathak, who was a visiting scholar at MIT, is the first Indian woman in the technical support unit of the Intergovernmental Penel on Climate Change. In addition to discussing women and climate change in this article, Dr. Prathak outlines her career path and discusses opportunities for climate change mitigation in India.
