
Renard holds a PhD degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering and resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is a youth environmental activist, educator, speaker and an outspoken climate change advocate, who campaigns extensively to raise the awareness about climate change and Sustainable Development goals (SDGs). His continuous enthusiasm for environment and climate change advocacy led him to be the focal point for various regional and international NGOs in the Asia Pacific. He is the Climate Change Advisor for the Centre for Governance and Political Studies and is a Co-founder for Accelerating Climate Action. Renard has been active in the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Working Committee of the Global Young Academy and UNFCCC. He has also served as Co-Chair of UNEP-FI’s Collective Climate Goal and was part of the working core group member which launched the Principles of Responsible Banking.
He has spoken at various forums such as the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of New Champions on eco-activism advocating the importance of youth as partners for climate action. He has been invited to numerous local, regional and international conferences in Thailand, Japan, China, Australia, Indonesia and USA to represent Malaysia. He has written numerous critically acclaimed articles and given interviews on both online and print media. He is currently serving as an Expert Network Member of the World Economic Forum and is actively involved in the Global Shapers Climate Action Steering Committee. Renard was also trained by Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader in Pittsburgh and has been a mentor to the Shapers Community.
For his work in climate change, he has been named one of Asia Society’s 21 Young Leaders, Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians, Young Leader of the World Cities Summit and 50 Green Warriors by Asia Tatler.
