J-WAFS Fellow, Tzu-Chieh Tang has been awarded a 2020 Lemelson-MIT Student Prize for his work on synthetic living water filters

Inspired by processes used in brewing Kombucha, Tang’s Synscoby is a patent pending platform technology that allows living materials to be grown into smart pollution-removing water filters. Read more here.
