Climate change has already made poor countries poorer and rich countries richer

Studies have shown that climate change will negatively impact poorer nations to a greater extent than their more-affluent counterparts. Already, the approximately 1 °C rise in global temperature has cut the per-person GDP of the poorest countries by 17%. This article by James Temple, MIT Technology Review’s senior editor for energy, explores the factors behind this inequity between countries and the economic imbalances that will occur within countries themselves as a result of climate change.
